i volunteered at the hospital in high school as a requirement, which was a waste of time. learned nothing useful.
i got my CNA certification and actually worked as a nursing assistant in the ER, where i learned more than i ever wanted about working in the medical clinical area. learned more than enough to make me initiate a career path change.
CNA class is only a few weeks long, and the certification test is super easy. i believe they are taught at community colleges and other community centers. EMT class/certification may be more exciting. that may be a better route to learn about this possible new career than being a volunteer.

hey foley,
just wanted to say thank you for this post! i’ve been frustrated with graduate school lately (in BME if you didn’t know before) working on different treatment technologies… but your post reminded me of why i decided to pursue this field in the first place – to help improve the quality of life for patients like your aunt by giving doctors the tools they need to help win the fight against cancer! i’ll go back to work with a fresh perspective…

Just giving you a hard time, but if your excerpt is accurate, it is a fact that India has a higher number of top 10 richest people than the U.S.

The excerpt says that the U.S. has 4 of the richest 20 people in the world, not the top 10…
